Foundation Learning

Foundation Learning at the Beacon College is comprised of Functional Skills, Physical Development, Independent Living Skills, Community Awareness, Science and Technology and Creative Development.

Below shows the approximate time spent on each area of learning. The curriculum areas overlap greatly with each other, for example, during Functional skills lessons, students will apply the skills learned through food technology sessions, voluntary and enterprise projects, careers, community visits etc. A further example is during Community awareness sessions, students will have the opportunity to access music, drama, dance, art and sports and leisure activities.
