Enrichment Groups at College
Every student at the Beacon College has the opportunity to access Enrichment groups with the aim of fostering or discovering interests that they will continue to access once they transition to their next education establishment or employment placement. Alongside this the student’s will also develop their confidence and independence in accessing these great learning opportunities.
The majority of the groups will take place at 12:30pm during the College lunchbreak and the students will have the opportunity to sign up for groups at the beginning of each term.

Residential Trips and Day Visits
Students will have the opportunity to access yearly residential trips, with a focus on developing and maintaining social opportunities, health and wellbeing and also opportunities to apply and generalise their independent living skills.
Students will also have the opportunity to take part in regular visits into the community as part of their Foundation Learning. These may vary from visiting shops, leisure facilitates, museums, transport hubs, neighbouring towns, local festivals and the theatre. These Enrichment opportunities will allow the students to apply skills taught in college to real-life experiences. The visits will also give the students to opportunity to experience develop their independence, whilst supporting social opportunities and life-long learning.
Community Groups
Every student at the Beacon College will have the opportunity to access Community groups with the aim of discovering interests that they will continue to access once they transition to their next education establishment or employment placement. Alongside this the student’s will also develop their confidence and independence in accessing these great Community based opportunities.
When participating in their Community group, students apply the skills taught in College and work towards Personal Learning Goals, which they set with support from their form tutor.

Whole College and Multi-Academy Trust Events
Students at The Beacon College will take part in a variety of whole college or MAT events throughout the academic year. As part of the English, Maths and PSHE curriculums, students participate in an events calendar which incorporates special days/weeks such as World Book Day, National Storytelling week, Black History month, National Number Day, Internet Safety Day, Mental Health week, Road Safety week etc. Students will also access whole college or MAT events through PE enrichment opportunities such as Sports Day and the Herefordshire Winter and Summer games.
